Owners of single-family homes, including duplexes and townhomes with private garages or dedicated parking, can apply for a rebate. All work must be completed, and applications submitted within 90 days after the installation of the charging station, or by September 30, 2020, whichever comes first.
ELIGIBLE COSTS
The eligible costs associated with an at home charging station are:
Purchasing the charging station
Labour and construction costs for installation by a licensed electrician
Electrical and related permits
Electrical design required by the charging station
ELIGIBLE CHARGERS
Charging stations that are eligible for the rebate must be:
Purchased in B.C. and not leased
Approved for sale and use in Canada and have cUL, cETL, and CSA certifications
A Level 2 charger, 208 volt or 240 volt, with a standard "J plug" (J1772)
A permanent installation; wall mounted is permitted if there is a 240-volt outlet available
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
If the charger was installed by a licensed electrician, the applicant must provide:
Charger invoice
Installation invoice
If the charger was installed by someone who is not a licensed electrician, the applicant must provide:
Charger invoice
Inspection invoice
Certificate of successful inspection
